A private screening will take place this Wednesday, the 8th of December 2021 in multiple cinemas, bringing the last album of Gorillaz, Song Machine, released in 2020, to the big screen!
Three years after their last gig, Damon Albarn will be back on stage accompanied by each member of Gorillaz, but also some prestigious guests, such as Robert Smith, Elton John or Peter Hook. The virtual band will perform their old hits, but also songs from their last album Song Machine. This show, lasting about 2h37, also contains exclusive behind-the-scene footage of the event, and interviews. Presented as a visual experience embellished with drawings of Jamie Hewlett, fans will experience a show in cinemas, away from their computer screens as experienced previously in the heart of the Covid-19 pandemic, in December 2020.
Gorillaz is releasing a huge boxset on December 10th!
Along with this screening, Gorillaz is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his eponymous debut album with a boxset! This boxset contains sensitive documents from the “Department of Music Correction“, which has just announced the declassification of those sensitive informations, including 27 pages of original drawings and storyboards by Jamie Hewlett, believed to have been destroyed in a fire. In addition to the original album, the boxset includes 8 black vinyl records, and other surprises. All the details of this precious box are available on the official store of the band.
An animated movie about Gorillaz is in preparation at Netflix
Confirmed by Damon Albarn, a film dedicated to the virtual band is being developed with Netflix. It is a feature film that the co-founder and singer of the band had created in 1998 with artist Jamie Hewlett. Although few details were given, fans will be delighted to wait for this visual gem in the making.
